Setting up your Amazon Echo device

Mobile phone or tablet

1. Download the Alexa app and sign in with valid Amazon account

NOTE: To download the Alexa app, go to the app store on your mobile device and search for "Alexa app." Then select and download the app. You can also select a link below:

2. In your operatory, set up your Echo device as instructed by Amazon. For detailed instructions on setting up your device, visit the Amazon web site:

3. After the Echo setup is complete, you will find yourself on the Alexa app home page. Tap the Menu icon at the top left of the display and tap “Skills”.

4. Tap “Your Skills” at the top-right section of the display and find and tap DEXVoice.

5. Once you do enable the DEXVoice Skill, a window will pop up asking for a Username and Password. Enter your Simplifeye username and password and tap “Login” to complete the link

6. You should then see a message stating “Your DEXVoice Skill was successfully linked”. Your account is now linked and ready to use DEXVoice with your Echo or Echo dot!

On the web

1. In your operatory, go to https://alexa.amazon.com on your desktop or laptop computer and sign in with valid Amazon account.

NOTE: This can be done on Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Internet Explorer (10 or higher) on your Wi-Fi enabled computer.

2. Set up the Echo or Echo Dot as instructed by Amazon. For detailed instructions on setting up your device, visit the Amazon web site:

3. After the Echo setup is complete, you will find yourself on the Alexa app home page. Click on the Skills option on the left side of the page.

4. Click “Your Skills” at the top-right section of the display and find and click DEXVoice..

5. Once you do enable the DEXVoice Skill, a window will pop asking for a Username and Password. Enter your Simplifeye username and password and click “Login” to complete the link.

6. You should see then a message stating “Your DEXVoice Skill was successfully linked”. Your account is now linked and ready to use DEXVoice!

Installing the Simplifeye Voice Agent

  1. Download the DEXVoice Agent installer from download.simplifeye.co/dexis on the PC in the operatory you’d like to use the Echo or Echo dot
  2. Run the installer, following all of the prompts. Eventually select “Finish” to end the installation
  3. When the program finishes installing, a window named “Simplifeye Login” will appear.
  4. Enter your Simplifeye username (e-mail address) and password and click “Login”.
  5. Name your operatory as you feel appropriate. (eg. OP1, X-ray, etc.)
  6. The Link Device window will prompt you to say a phrase to your Echo. Clearly pronounce each word as is written in order to link the Echo to your room.
  7. The Link Device program will then confirm the pairing. The Echo will audibly confirm it as well. You are now ready to start using DEXVoice!

NOTE: You must repeat this entire process for each room you’d like to be able to use DEXVoice in. Each room will require it’s own unique Amazon Echo device.

Using voice commands with the DEXVoice skill

Here is a list of select commands that can be used with the DEXVoice skill. The numbers show the common commands and the letters below are formats that should be used to specify it. Let’s take a look at the first example to see how this works. You would say “Alexa, ask my assistant to show the last PA of . . . “ You would then complete the phrase with one of the listed options:

Eg. (“Alexa, ask my assistant to show the last PA of number 16”)

Note that any of the lettered options listed below are acceptable phrasing.
