The Messaging section of the Simplifeye desktop application is where all intra-office and referral correspondence will take place. Within this section, you'll be able to send direct messages to single users, group messages to administrator-created groups as well as ad hoc user-created groups. To access the Messaging tab, just click on the message bubble icon on the top-left section of the application.

The Messaging tab is divided into two panels. On the right panel, you'll see the conversations window, which is where you will send and receive messages. If you would like to send a message to a conversation that has already been created, you can simply select the desired conversation in the conversation list to the left. Otherwise, you can create a new conversation with a few different options.

  1. Creating a new conversation
  2. Creating a new chat group
  3. Exchanging referral information
  4. Attaching files

Creating a new conversation

Conversations are the primary means of text communication on Simplifeye; they operate similarly to any other group messaging app you may already be familiar with. In the Messages tab, you will be able to view all messages sent and received by you. When creating a new conversation, you now have the option to send messages to chat groups that you are not currently a member of. Let's start by clicking on the Messages tab on the top of the Simplifeye desktop app.

  1. Click New Conversation to bring up the participants window.
  2. Select the conversation participants you would like to have. You can even mix and match! For example, if you would like to send a message to a chat group and would like to include an individual user as well, just make sure to highlight the group name as well as the individual user. You can include the following as a participant:  Individual users in your practiceReferral users that you've added to your networkChat groups
  3. Once you've completed your selections, click on the green check mark to create the conversation.
  4. You will now be able to compose a message to send to all participants!

All conversations will appear in the left panel for selection. You can jump between conversations as needed by clicking on each thread.

Creating a new chat group

In the newest version of Simplifeye, we've introduced chat groups. Chat groups operate slightly differently than conversations. Chat groups are basically shortcuts that allow you to easily message multiple users at once. To send messages to all users within the group, a user can add the chat group as a participant when creating a new conversation. Within the chat group, users can chat freely and no outside user will be able to access private chat group communication unless they are added to the chat group.

  1. Click on the Messages tab on at the top-left corner of the window.
  2. Click New Group to bring up the participants window.
  3. Select the group participants you would like to add to the group. Note that you are not able to place groups within groups at this time.
  4. Once you've completed your selections, click on the green check mark to create the conversation.

You will now see the group listed in the Groups section of the Messaging tab; this means that all users in the practice will be able to create new conversations and include your chat group. Chat groups are a great way to setup organized communication shortcuts for your team!

Exchanging referral information

Exchanging important information to a referral doctor is similar to creating a conversation. You can easily differentiate between referral and staff accounts when choosing participants or navigating conversations. Remember that the account type of a user is determined by a Simplifeye Administrator when sending an invitation.

  1. Click on the Messages tab on the tap.
  2. Click New Referral to bring up the participants window.
  3. Select the referring doctor you would like to send the patient information to.
  4. Once you've completed your selections, click on the green check mark to create the conversation.
  5. Compose a message and/or attach a file to send. Your referral can also reply and attach files themselves.
  6. Use the conversation to communicate with each other freely and securely!

Attaching files

Any user can attach files to conversations using the Simplifeye desktop application. This guide will explain both methods you can do so. Simplifeye allows uploads of any file type (literally!) up to 1GB in size.

NOTE: If using files generated from within another program, make sure to export or download that file to your computer's local storage before upload.

NOTE: If you would like to share a folder or multiple files at once, you'll need to compress them into a single zip file before uploading.

Paper clip icon

  1. Click on the paper clip icon to the left of the message text box.
  2. Select the file you like to upload from the file manager and click "Open"
  3. The upload process will then begin.
  4. Once it completes, a link will then appear in the conversation. This will give all conversation participants the opportunity to download the uploaded file.

Drag and drop

  1. Make sure the desired conversation window is open on the Simplifeye app.
  2. On your desktop or file manager, find the file that you would like to upload.
  3. Click and hold and the file to make it draggable.
  4. Drag it over to the open Simplifeye conversation window.
  5. Release the mouse to drop the file; this will initiate the upload.
  6. Once it completes, a link will then appear in the conversation. This will give all conversation participants the opportunity to download the uploaded file.
